'Who radicalized Robert Card?': Internet launches into bizarre attack on Donald Trump

LEWISTON, MAINE: Former US president Donald Trump has been subjected to a furious internet attack since it emerged that suspected Maine mass shooter Robert Card reportedly liked tweets from high-profile conservative figures such as Donald Trump Jr.

Authorities have been searching for 40-year-old Card after he used an AR-15-style rifle to open fire at a bowling alley and pool hall in Lewiston, Maine, injuring 13 and killing at least 18 people on Wednesday, October 25.

Card, from Bowdoin, Maine, is believed to be an Army Reservist firearms instructor, who was stationed in Saco. His now-deleted Facebook page revealed that he served in the army for over 20 years.

A bulletin put out by the Maine Information and Analysis Center, a database for law enforcement officials, previously revealed that Card “recently reported mental health issues to include hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME.”

He was even committed to a mental health facility during Summer 2023 and released after a two-week stay.

Robert Card’s social media activity

A review by Heavy revealed that Card was supposedly active on X (previously Twitter) with his now-suspended account @RobertC20041800, where he primarily liked messages from media networks like CNBC as well as politicians and commentators.

He reportedly liked a Donald Trump Jr’s March post, which read "Given the incredible rise of trans/non-binary mass shooters in the last few years… by far the largest group committing as a percentage of population… maybe, rather than talking about guns we should be talking about lunatics pushing their gender-affirming bulls**t on our kids?"

The only post on Card's X (formerly Twitter) account was a repost of a tweet from CNBC’s Jim Cramer.

He apparently liked a video by Tucker Carlson, the caption of which stated, "The trans movement, it turns out, is the mirror image of Christianity, and therefore its natural enemy. People who believe they’re God can’t stand to be reminded that they’re not."

He then went on to like a comment left by Musk on President Joe Biden's post, saying, "Umm … the banks are melting." He liked another comment from Musk, who said "I used to think Bannon was smart & evil, but now I realize I was wrong about the first part."

Internet slammed Donald Trump for Robert Card’s attack

After reviewing Card’s social media activity, several internet users claimed that Trump should be blamed for radicalizing the mass shooter.

“What do we know about Robert Card. Mass murderer. Not transgender, Not a drag queen, Not an “illegal immigrant”, Not from a Mexican cartel Who radicalized Robert?” one user wrote.

To which a second user replied, “TRUMP DID!” “Trump did this😐,” a third user agreed.

“Trumplican propaganda,” a fourth user stated, while a fifth one wrote “Fox News, The Republican Party, the church. Twitter, Facebook and 4chan.”

“Tough question, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here….tRump?” another one said. “Hannity, Trump, McCarthy, don jr ect,” one more wrote.
